Poverty Alleviation Initiative through Tangkha Art was launched by Chinatangka.com and Yellow Ribbon Operation of China Charity Federation. The opening ceremonies for Location A at Xiandai Wenxueguan in Chaoyang District and Location B in Suoran Gallery in Guanyin Tang in Beijing took place respectively on September 19th and 20th. A number of first-class Tangkas appraised by the organizers of this event will be included in AATS- Asian Art Top Show in Beijing from January 5-11th.

The Tangka exhibition will have its closing ceremony on September 29th. The purpose of this initiative is to reduce the poverty level in the remote areas of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau by providing necessary funding to poor but potential Tangka makers, so that the Tangka art and industry can be well protected. Most important of all, a Tangka training school should be on the urgent agenda where Tibetan children from the farming and nomad areas can learn their culture and obtain a living skill that’s our starting point.

Rekong Tangka masters like Xie Hedao, Sangjie Ben and Niang Ben were so kind bringing their masterpieces to show the best part of Rekong Art during the exhibition.

Rekong is home of the famous Tibetan tangka art and a major center of Tibetan culture, but Tangka production of this area is right below 10,000 annually. To collect a top Tangka artwork depends on fate and one's knowledge. Executive director of yellow Ribbon of China Charity Federation Mr. Wen Wenwu presented a warm speech. He stressed the Olympic spirit and support of Tangka art saying that love goes beyond all. His firm belief is that this program will help the needy in the plateau so that their dreams can come true.

Also present in the opening ceremony is Governor Wanghua Ping from Huang Nan Tibetan Prefecture of Rekong Art. His speech covered all important aspects of Tangka art.

Over one hundred foreign and Chinese guests participated in the opening ceremonies and the declaration of the program.

Philanthropist Liu Li Ming from Tianjing collected a Tangka during the exhibition to illustrate his full support of the initiative. This sale hit the record high for RMB 150,000.ever in Tangka exhibition history in China.
